Catering for dietary need overview
Food plays an important role in all of our lives, and we are fortunate in Australia to have access to a high quality and varied food supply, in and out of the home. We also, however, have increasing rates of health conditions such as osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. These conditions often require specific nutrition. And some people choose to follow, or need to follow specialised eating patterns like vegetarian, gluten free and low lactose.
Catering for dietary needs can therefore be a challenging task for foodservice establishments. The following information is intended to be a resource for you to refer to in Foodservice settings.
